A fast-moving bushfire is threatening lives and homes near a roadhouse in Western Australia's Pilbara region.

An emergency warning has been issued for people near Nanutarra Roadhouse, along North West Coastal Highway in the Shire of Ashburton.

The lightning-sparked bushfire is out of control and unpredictable.
