The bushfire comes as severe and extreme fire danger levels are forecast for parts of Western Australia today.
The Fire and Emergency Services Authority (FESA) was first alerted to the outbreak at 3.26pm yesterday, with the fire described earlier as "out of control, unpredictable and fast moving".

But by late last night, winds and fire intensity had eased.
The fire was last reported moving northeast towards Boulonnais Drive and had burned about 100 hectares of bush, a FESA spokesman said.
Residents urged to relocate
An emergency warning was issued for the suburb of Brigadoon, 32km northeast of Perth, advising residents their "best option for survival is away from the fire" and urging them to relocate to a safer place.
A relocation point has been set up nearby at the State Equestrian Centre in Cathedral Avenue for residents with horses.
Forty firefighters are on the scene, backed by five helicopters and two fixed-wing water-bombing aircraft.
No property damage has been confirmed.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) has forecast extreme fire danger in parts of the Central West region on Monday.
'Severe fire danger' forecast
The warning covers the shires of Migenew, Moora, Morawa, Mullewa, Perenjori, Three Springs and Victoria Plains, and inland parts of the shires of Carnamah, Chapman Valley, Coorow, Dandaragan and Northampton.
Severe fire danger has been forecast for parts of the Kimberley/Pilbara, Gascoyne, Central west, Lower West and Central Wheatbelt and Central West regions.
A total fire ban has now been declared for the Perth metropolitan area and surrounding shires.
The ban applies from 10am to 7pm on Monday and outlaws cooking on an open fire, moving vehicles or equipment across a paddock, harvesting and hot work such as metal work or grinding.
Areas covered by the ban include the cities of Armadale, Bayswater, Belmont, Canning, Cockburn, Fremantle, Gosnells, Joondalup, Mandurah, Melville, Nedlands, Perth, Rockingham, South Perth, Stirling, Subiaco, Swan and Wanneroo, and the shires of Chittering, Gingin, Kalamunda, Mundaring, Murray, Peppermint Grove, Serpentine-Jarrahdale, Toodyay and Waroona.
