Bushfire threat in WA's Pilbara region

A watch and act alert has been issued for an area in WA's Pilbara region, with authorities warning lives and homes could be in danger.

Lives and homes could be under threat from an out-of-control and unpredictable bushfire burning in Western Australia's Pilbara region with flames about 10m high.

A watch and act alert has been issued for people near Great Northern Highway and Coon Siding to Woodstock Aboriginal Community in Port Hedland.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services says the accidental fire, which started at the Auski Roadhouse, is moving fast in a southeasterly direction.
