Bushfire threatening WA roadhouse

A bushfire is continuing to burn out of control in Western Australia's north, posing a threat to lives and property.

Lives and homes remain in danger from a fast-moving and out-of-control bushfire heading towards a roadhouse in Western Australia's north.

A watch and act alert is in place for people at or near Pardoo Roadhouse and east of the De Grey River including De Grey Station, Pardoo Station, Goldsworthy, Shay Gap, Warralong Community and Yarrie Mine Camp in the Shire of East Pilbara.

"You need to leave or get ready to actively defend," the Department of Fire and Emergency Services warns.

The blaze is burning along the Great Northern Highway.

Pardoo Roadhouse and Cape Keraudren Caravan Park have been closed and there are also road closures in place.

Firefighters are battling the blaze which has burnt almost 1,335,400 hectares.

The bushfire has been burning since November 4.
