Firefighters are battling a bushfire threatening homes in Sydney's northwest and a blaze at a service station in the city's southwest.
A Fire & Rescue NSW spokesman said firefighters were called at 2.08pm (AEDT) on Wednesday to Lane Cove National Park at North Ryde where a fire had "escalated very quickly" to threaten nearby houses.
Six fire engines have been sent to the scene. At 2.09pm the fire service was alerted to a service station fire on Hoxton Park Road in Liverpool and six appliances have been sent.
The spokesman said the station was well alight, hindering a close approach, so firefighters were hosing it down from a distance in a bid to cool it. A stretch of Hoxton Park Road has been closed to traffic.
