Bushfire threatens lives, homes in WA

A watch and act bushfire warning is in place for people in Oldbury, south of Perth, with residents warned to leave or get ready to defend their properties.

Lives and homes remain in danger from a bushfire south of Perth, but firefighters have managed to control the blaze.

A watch and act alert is in place for people in north-western parts of Oldbury in the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale, with residents warned to leave or get ready to defend their properties.

"There is a possible threat to lives and homes as a fire is approaching in the area and conditions are changing," the Department of Fire and Emergency Services warns.

The blaze, which was reported on Friday morning, is now under control but not contained.

Some roads have been closed.
