Bushfire warning downgraded in WA's north

A watch and act alert for a bushfire south of Port Hedland in Western Australia's Pilbara region has been downgraded to an advice notice.

A bushfire that was threatening homes in Western Australia's Pilbara region has been contained and is now under control.

A watch and act alert has been downgraded to an advice notice for the blaze in Turner River Estate south of Port Hedland, which was reported on Thursday.

The bushfire is stationary and firefighters are continuing to strengthen containment lines, the Department of Fire and Emergency Services says.
