Bushfires threaten lives, homes in WA

An emergency bushfire warning is in place for a bushfire north-east of Perth and some roads have been closed.

As two separate fires burn in Western Australia, residents are being warned to stay away as crews battle unpredictable conditions.

An emergency warning has been issued for the vicinity of Shady Hills Estate in Bullsbrook, north-east of Perth, as well as the vicinity of O'Brien and Clayton Roads in Gidgegannup, and Wulunga National Park.

"People in the warning area are advised that they should seek alternative accommodation overnight," the Department of Fire and Emergency Services warns.

The blaze is out of control and moving fast.

Some roads and Wulunga National Park have been closed.

Meanwhile, a watch and act alert remains in place for parts of Edgewater in Perth's north.
