Businessman Weiss joins ARL commission

Gary Weiss has joined the Australia Rugby League commission board, replacing outgoing member Ian Elliot.

Leading businessman Gary Weiss has been appointed to the Australian Rugby League Commission board.

The chairman of a livestock feed company Ridley Corporation and an Australia-wide car parking business Secure Parking, Weiss on Tuesday replaced Ian Elliot who stood down last month after serving four years on the commission.

Weiss has previously served on the board of Westfield Group and Tower Australia.

He also worked as a director of Brisbane Broncos Ltd, the publicly-listed company that owns the Broncos, and was a member of the Sydney Roosters Chairman's Club.

ARL chairman John Grant said Weiss brings a mix of business and sports skills to the role.

"Gary clearly has the skills and experience we were looking for," he said.

"He has a wealth of business experience and has indicated he has the time to devote to one of his keen interests in life."
