West Australian Treasurer Troy Buswell is set to make his first public appearance since Greens MP Adele Carles revealed she had an affair with him.
Mr Buswell bunkered down yesterday after Ms Carles told a newspaper she had a "stupid" affair with the 44-year-old Liberal treasurer earlier this year that lasted several months while they were both married.
"It is with deep regret that I acknowledge having an affair with the Treasurer, Troy Buswell," Ms Carles told News Ltd. "It lasted several months and it is over now.
"I could attempt to portray myself as the vulnerable one who was taken advantage of.
"However, this is simply not true.

"We made a mutual, albeit stupid, decision as two consenting adults.
"To my constituents in Fremantle, I apologise."
Ms Carles said the affair lasted several months from the end of last year. The treasurer reportedly attended Ms Carles's Christmas party last year, where insiders say he partied the night away.
Mr Buswell, who notoriously disgraced himself by sniffing the chair of a female political staffer, was believed to be at his Busselton home, about 230km south of Perth, trying to save his marriage on Sunday.
However, there were unconfirmed reports his wife, Margaret, had already walked out on him. Mr and Mrs Buswell have two sons.
His office issued a two-line statement to say he wouldn't be available for comment on Sunday but would front the media outside Parliament House at 11am (WST) on Monday.
Ms Carles is married to Francois and has three daughters, aged seven, 10 and 13. The Greens MP told ABC radio the affair had not compromised her position in parliament and she didn't "seek or obtain any favours from the treasurer".
She said she had not betrayed her party and had no intention of quitting parliament.
