Mississippi State pulled off a buzzer-beating overtime win over women's college basketball power Connecticut on Friday to bring an end to the Huskies' 111-game winning streak.
In the NCAA Tournament Final Four match-up, guard Morgan William hit a 10-foot jumper to seal the 66-64 victory, Mississippi State doing what no team had been able to do since Connecticut were last beaten in November, 2014.
The result means that Connecticut (36-1) will not get a chance to add to a streak of four consecutive national championships.
The Bulldogs had led 64-62 before a flagrant foul call on Mississippi State guard Dominique Dillingham allowed Connecticut's Katie Lou Samuelson to tie the game at the free throw line with 26.6 seconds remaining in the extra period.
Mississippi State (34-4) advance to play South Carolina in the title game on Sunday evening back at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.
