Cabin crew helps woman give birth at 42,000 feet

The cabin crew from a Turkish Airlines flight from Guinea to Burkina Faso has successfully delivered a healthy baby girl at 42,000 feet.

Nafi Diaby, 28, was a passenger aboard the Boeing B737-900 flight when she went into labour while travelling from Conakry to Ouagadougou.

Crew members quickly responded and assisted with the mid-flight birth.

Diaby and her daughter, named Kadiju, were taken to hospital for observation after the plane landed at Ouagadougou Airport.

Turkish Airlines said the mother and daughter suffered no health problems in the wake of the dramatic birth.

"The cabin crew noticed that a woman passenger named Nafi Diaby, [who was] 28 weeks into her pregnancy, was suffering childbirth pains," a Turkish Airlines statement said.

"They promptly responded to assist her childbirth during the flight."
