Geelong will have to do without midfielder Josh Caddy until the back end of the AFL season due to a knee injury.

Caddy picked up the knock during the Cats' win over the Western Bulldogs last Saturday, leaving the ground on crutches.

Scans have revealed minor medial ligament damage, which will not require surgery but means Caddy is set to be out for six to eight weeks.

The 23-year-old has been ever-present for the in-form Cats this year, averaging 21 possessions a game in 13 appearances.

Cameron Guthrie is expected to be back in contention for selection for the Cats for this weekend's clash with St Kilda after missing the Bulldogs match due to illness.

Josh Cowan and Darcy Lang have also made a case for inclusion after strong performances in the VFL at the weekend.
