Cafe worker still missing in Murray River

A 21-year-old cafe worker who went missing while swimming with friends in the Murray River is yet to be found after a third day of searching.

The search for a young Nepalese cafe worker who vanished while swimming in the Murray River will continue into a fourth day.

Bigul Pandit disappeared while swimming with friends at Noreuil Park in the border town of Albury about 7pm on Wednesday.

Emergency services searched the river until dusk and then NSW and Victorian police divers returned to the river on Thursday and again on Friday.

There's been no sign of Mr Pandit and the search will resume at 8am on Saturday.

Friend Emamul Milon had lunched with Mr Pandit on Wednesday afternoon, after which Mr Pandit told Mr Milon he was going swimming in the river.

The next morning Mr Milon found a note on the front of the cafe where his young friend worked.

"Sorry we are closed today, one of our work colleagues drown in river," the sign read.

"He went for swim last night and still missing - sorry."

Mr Milon told AAP the Nepalese man used to live in Israel with family members before moving to Albury where he shared a home with his cousin.

His parents are said to be inconsolable and pondering whether they will travel to Australia if their son is found.
