Murray Street in Cairns in far north Queensland has been quiet since the stabbing deaths of eight children just before Christmas.

A memorial was held on Saturday at the weekend for the four girls and four boys, aged between two and 14 years.

Families and friends are still in shock, with children asking questions many adults find very difficult to answer.

Murray Street mother, Rebecca, has told Living Black Radio's Minelle Creed about how she first found out about the deaths, and how the street has changed.
