John and Ros Moriarty have long been involved in Indigenous advocacy and, through their work with the Jumbana group, are committed to fostering deeper engagement between Indigenous communities and business.
As creative director of the Balarinji Design Studio, Ros Moriarty has played a major role in the design of the Qantas art aircraft series.
She says that they have worked hard to develop a meaningfull Reconciliation Action Plan which is achieving reconciliation on an international scale.
Ms. Moriarty says Indigenous employment should not be limited to simply finding people jobs.
"How do you develop a model around engagement and retention and career development that really changes lives long term?"
Mr Moriarty has praised Tony Abbott's committment to engage with indigenous affairs but says that he would like to see more Aboriginal community representation in Prime the new Indigenous advisory council.
"There seems to be a lack of people from the very remote areas and the Aboriginal communities, the bush people [involved]"
Ros and John agree the moves toward constitutional recognition is integral to moving Indigenous Australians forward.
"I'm hopeful that this aspect will bring us further up the line so that we can say the integration of Aboriginal people into Australian society will be integrated so that they can reach their goals in any field that they want to undertake in this country" said Mr Moriarty.
