A federal Liberal MP has called on the Queensland government to rule out a casino on the Sunshine Coast.

Fisher MP Andrew Wallace told federal parliament on Monday he had written to the Palaszczuk government seeking to clarify what discussions had been held with foreign investors about a casino at Maroochydore.

"I call on the premier to rule out the granting of a casino licence for the Sunshine Coast and end any possibility of this damaging proposal going ahead," Mr Wallace said.
