Calls for Hanson to clarify GST stances

The Queensland government is urging One Nation leader Pauline Hanson to clarify whether she wants WA to get more GST revenue at Queensland's expense.

One Nation leader Pauline Hanson is being challenged to declare once and for all what her position on GST revenue is.

The Queensland senator told a Perth radio station in January she would seek a bigger funding share for WA, as that state gears up for its state election this weekend.

But Senator Hanson this week took to social media to deny suggestions she would seek a GST boost for the western state at the expense of Queensland.

"Let me make it quite clear, at no point have I ever said to strip GST money out of Queensland or any state specifically," she said.

A spokesperson for Senator Hanson then clarified to the Courier Mail that as the leader of the party nationally, Senator Hanson had responsibilities to all states, not just to the one she was elected to represent.

"Pauline Hanson is not only seen as a Senator for Queensland, instead voters see her as a national voice for issues Australia wide," the spokesperson said.

Jackie Trad, who is acting premier while Annastacia Palaszczuk is on a trade mission, said on Thursday Senator Hanson is sending mixed messages to voters in WA and Queensland.

"Western Australia goes to the ballot box this weekend, and if there are people in Western Australia who are voting for One Nation because they've promised more GST revenue for Western Australia at the expense of Queensland, then Queenslanders deserve to know that," Ms Trad told reporters on Thursday.

"It's hard enough getting money out of the federal government ... without having Queensland senators arguing against Queensland's interests."

Queensland opposition frontbencher Scott Emerson threw the issue back on One Nation's state leader and only sitting MP Steve Dickson, saying Mr Dickson needed to say whether he agreed with his leader's views.

"(Mr Dickson) needs to "please explain" if he supports Pauline Hanson in selling out Queensland for GST or will he man-up and quit One Nation and back Queensland," Mr Emerson said.

"Surely as the One Nation leader in Queensland, he has to repudiate what Pauline Hanson has said."
