Calls to treat jailed 17-year olds as youths

The Youth Affairs Network Queensland has launched a petition calling on the Newman Government to treat 17 year-olds as juveniles in the Justice System.

Currently Queensland is the only state or territory to treat 17 year olds as adults in the courts. Legal representatives say its a practice that's particularly concerning for the indigenous community.
