Australian basketball star Liz Cambage was No.2 pick in the WNBA draft in Connecticut and will play for the Tulsa Shock.

American Maya Moore was No.1, picked by Minnesota Lynx.

At only 19 years of age and 204cm, Cambage recently helped her WNBL side, Bulleen Boomers, to their inaugural Australian premiership.

"I have been given a wonderful opportunity to play with and against the highest quality players in the world. It is a dream come true," said an elated Cambage in a statement released by her management.

"It will be a great challenge physically and mentally that will enable me to develop as a player and learn a different style of game from what we play in Australia.

"I've already met some of the Tulsa fans who have been very welcoming."

The WNBA season starts next month and Cambage will depart for Oklahoma later today.
