Cameraman recovering after Beck tumble

Andreas Beck was left dazed and a cameraman unconscious in a collision on the side of Hoffenheim's 4-2 defeat at home to Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga.

A television cameraman has been left recovering in hospital with concussion after being knocked unconscious in a collision with Germany international Andreas Beck during a Bundesliga match.

Hoffenheim captain Beck accidentally landed on top of the Sky cameraman's pitch-side position during the first-half of Saturday's 4-2 defeat at home to Mainz 05.

Beck was left dazed by the collision, which saw a clash of heads, while the cameraman, who had been in a seated position, was left motionless on the ground.

Hoffenheim striker Sejad Salihovic quickly intervened to cradle the poleaxed cameraman's head and urgently motioned to medical staff for help.

The cameraman was treated by paramedics at Hoffenheim's Rhine-Neckar Stadium, but had regained consciousness by the time he was stretchered into the ambulance on his way to hospital.

"He is doing well under the circumstances. He is responsive and has been given a neurological check in hospital," said Hoffenheim's press officer Holger Tromp.

Beck, who won the last of his nine caps for Germany in 2010, went on to play all but the last three minutes of the match and later wished the cameraman a speedy recovery.
