Jeremy Cameron remains a long way off the nervous nineties but Saturday's Manuka Oval masterclass, lifting GWS to a 44-point win over St Kilda, will likely spark more talk about a potential 100-goal AFL season.
Cameron and the Giants enhanced their impressive records in the nation's capital, where the key forward booted six goals as his side triumphed 18.6 (114) to 10.10 (70).
The foundation Giant starred as reports emerged that Geelong were poised to offer him up to $1 million per season. He leads the Coleman medal race with 30 goals from the opening seven rounds.
Nobody has kicked 100 goals in an AFL season since Lance Franklin in 2008 in Hawthorn's march to the premiership.
"Is it good to see goal-kickers? Absolutely - everyone wants to see a goal-kicker. Supporters like it; we like it," GWS coach Leon Cameron said, when asked about the magical milestone.
"One thing I like about his game is he's very, very selfless.
"We've got a long way to go ... we look forward to seeing how it progresses.
"He's on top of his game and he's dangerous every time the ball goes near him."
Saints coach Alan Richardson suggested it would be hard for any modern forward to crack the ton but described Jeremy Cameron as a special player and challenging match-up.
Cameron, unwilling to look beyond a round-eight meeting with Hawthorn, notably suggested in March that the 6-6-6 rule could help someone in the league produce a 100-goal season.
"I'm enjoying it (the 6-6-6 rule). I don't know if it's the sole reason all the goals are coming," he said on Saturday.
Cameron boasts an AFL-record 49 goals at Manuka Oval, while GWS have won 11 of their past 14 games at the venue.
The 26-year-old's best-on-ground effort was all the more impressive because he suffered a knock to the shoulder during the game, as was the case during a haul of 7.5 against Richmond in round three.
"The boys are already joking around that I should hurt myself and hurt my shoulder before every game," Cameron said while icing his left shoulder.
"You get on with it ... everyone does."
The Giants stormed to a 43-point lead when Cameron slotted the opening goal of the second quarter but their frighteningly good start was followed by a gutsy fightback from the visitors.
"The first quarter was poor ... they smashed us physically. That was really disappointing," Richardson said.
The Saints would have trimmed the margin to 10 points in the third term if Matthew Parker's straightforward set shot hadn't hit the post.
Cameron kicked the next two goals to ensure the Giants shored up their top-four spot.
