UK Prime Minister David Cameron has announced a raft of plans to crack down on riot suspects and help the country recover.

The Prime Minister said all police leave will be cancelled, while police will also be given the discretion to require the removal of face coverings where there is 'reasonable suspicion.'

He also said any homeowner or businessperson with a reasonable claim can seek compensation under the riot damages act.

The government would also be looking at social media's role in organising much of the unrest, while curfews would also be considered.

When it came to catching perpetrators, 'phoney human rights concerns' won't get in way of publishing suspects' photos.

Mr Cameron took aim at 'gangs', and to cheers from parliament, highlighted where he said the blame lay.

'Responsibility for crime always lies with the criminal', Mr Cameron said.

The rioting was 'not about politics or protest, it is about theft', he said.

'This is not about poverty, this is about culture.'
