A campaign to protect international students from attacks has been launched in Sydney after a series of attacks on Indian students earlier this year.

The `Think Before' travel campaign will deliver safety messages through SMS, YouTube and social networking sites so it can properly reach GenY students.

An animated international student named George is the face of the campaign and features in the YouTube video.

The video shows George doing a number of things the campaign warns against including travelling alone at night and taking shortcuts home that pass through dark streets and alleyways.

The messages will be delivered in 13 languages and free mobile apps will automatically take on the language the mobile phone is set to.
