Canada and the Czech Republic enjoyed dream starts to the 2016 world ice hockey championships as they dispatched fellow gold medal hopefuls the United States and Russia in convincing fashion.
Defending champions Canada thrashed their fierce rivals 5-1 in St Petersburg after Patrick Maroon had put the US in front in the first period.
Goals from Taylor Hall and Brendan Gallagher gave Canada the lead going into the second period, while the Colorado Avalanche's Matt Duchene made it 3-1.
