Canadian mum gets chemical-laden latte

A woman was served a cup full of cleaning agents after ordering a latte at a McDonald's drive through in Canada.

A pregnant woman in Canada says she was served a cleaning agent at a McDonald's restaurant instead of the latte she'd ordered.

Sarah Douglas says she pulled into the drive through at a McDonald's in the Alberta town of Lethbridge on Sunday for a quick coffee while on her way to a baseball tournament with her son.

Realising something was not right with her coffee, Douglas says she went back to complain and was told by staff that two cleaning lines had been hooked up to the coffee machine. She then contacted local health authorities.

A McDonald's spokeswoman issued an apology on behalf of the franchisee Dan Brown.
