Canberra airport will start receiving international passengers from Wellington and Singapore from mid-next week.

Canberra airport is ready to go international with overseas flights set to start from next week.

Federal Transport Minister Darren Chester on Friday unveiled a plaque to mark the opening of a new terminal equipped with state-of-the-art passport control facilities, duty-free shopping and a passenger lounge.

The first international passengers will arrive at the new terminal from Wellington in New Zealand and Singapore next Wednesday.
