A Canberra Islamic school has had its funding revoked by the federal government over concerns about its financial management.

Education Minister Simon Birmingham said the operators of the Islamic School of Canberra failed to address concerns about its management and governance arrangements.

"After carefully considering their response to the issues raised in the compliance notice, my department determined that it will revoke the funding approval," he said in a statement on Monday.
