Fears Hurricanes lock Vaea Fifita suffered a broken leg at the Brisbane Global Tens have eased, although his immediate Super Rugby future remains in doubt.

Fifita was taken off on a stretcher after he fell during a lineout in the Hurricanes' 17-7 semi-final loss to the Crusaders.

The Hurricanes confirmed via Twitter on Monday that the 24-year-old Tonga-born forward had been cleared of a leg fracture.

"Good news. Vaea Fifita's leg is NOT broken. Vaea has ankle ligament damage that will be assessed further in coming days," the Wellington-based club said.

The Chiefs, who won the inaugural title in beating the Crusaders 12-5, haven't fared so well, prop Mitchell Graham returning home with a broken leg while halfback Brad Weber has a serious knee injury.
