A Senate committee will investigate bauxite developments in Cape York.

Nationals senator Matt Canavan and Liberals Ian Macdonald and Joanna Lindgren on Tuesday won support for an inquiry into the economic development of bauxite resources in Aurukun.

The committee will look into any native title rights issues, benefits for traditional owners and the process for finalising an exclusive mineral development licence application on the land.
