Capsized crew rescued in Torres Strait

A crew travelling through the Torres Strait were forced to spend a night on a channel marker after capsizing.

A crew of four have spent the night on a channel marker in the Torres Strait after their boat capsized off Thursday Island.

The male crew, aged 51, 38, 21 and 16, left Cape York on Sunday afternoon for their home on Moa Island before their five-metre vessel flipped.

They were able to walk to the channel marker at low tide before being winched to safety by helicopter on Monday morning.
