Car on fire closes Sydney tunnel

A car on fire has closed a Sydney tunnel and caused traffic chaos.

A car that burst into flames has closed the Domain Tunnel in Sydney.

Emergency services responded to reports a car was on fire about 6.30pm on Sunday.

All lanes have been closed in both directions with traffic being diverted at Macquarie Street.

The car fire is out now but the sprinklers are still activated, according to Live Traffic NSW.

Motorists have been advised to avoid the area and use the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
