Bryce Cartwright is expected to miss at least a month of football with a suspected fractured ankle after a horror injury toll claimed some of the game's biggest names over the weekend.
The Panthers back-rower joins Jarryd Hayne, Matt Scott and Will Hopoate in a swelling casualty ward.
Cartwright's injury wasn't enough to take the gloss off the Panthers' bounce-back 36-2 flogging of the Wests Tigers on Sunday however the initial diagnosis was that he would miss four to six weeks.
It capped what had already been a trying week for Cartwright after his name was dragged through the mud over allegations he forced a former partner to have an abortion.
He will have scans in the coming days after leaving the field in the 15th minute, ending the game on the bench in a moonboot.
"He's got a plate in his leg from a previous broken ankle," coach Anthony Griffin said.
"He's got a lot of pain over the top of that so the doctor wants to get it scanned. There's a number of things it could be.
"He doesn't know (how bad it is). He got a whack on it and it got to the point where he couldn't play with it."
Gold Coast are expected to be without Hayne for a month after he went down in his side's upset loss to Newcastle on Saturday night.
Hayne is believed to have suffered a syndesmosis injury and will undergo scans on Monday.
The Titans are also sweating on the fitness of winger Anthony Don and Karl Lawton who both suffered dislocated shoulders.
The Bulldogs are counting the cost of their 28-24 loss to the Sydney Roosters on Thursday night with Will Hopoate (fractured eye socket) and Kerrod Holland (AC joint) both to miss the next four to six weeks of action.
Sydney Roosters centre Blake Ferguson suffered rib cartilage damage in the same game.
North Queensland are facing a real test of their depth with co-skipper Matt Scott suffering what's believed to be a season-ending knee injury.
As well as concerns over winger Antonio Winterstein (broken arm) and fullback Lachlan Coote (calf), they're also sweating on the availability of Jason Taumalolo after he was cited for a shoulder charge.
The Warriors will also monitor fullback and captain Roger Tuivasa-Sheck after he suffered a concussion in their 26-10 loss to Melbourne.
