Manly back Brayden Wiliame is bound for the English Super League after signing a two-year deal with Catalans Dragons.

Sea Eagles coach Trent Barrett wished the 23-year-old well and said the NRL club "didn't want to stand in his way even though he was contracted for next season".

"It was always a pleasure to coach Brayden and his versatility at being able to play fullback, wing or centre was always valuable," Barrett said.

Wiliame made his first-grade debut for Parramatta in 2013 and had a spell with Newcastle reserves before joining Manly in 2015.

"I'm really satisfied with the signing of Brayden. He has the profile we were looking for, a young, ambitious player with a real sense of professionalism on and off the field," Catalans coach Laurent Frayssinous said.

"He already has a great experience in the NRL despite his young age and his versatility is a real asset. He is a powerful and agile player who likes playing in the spaces and he has a very good tackle technique."

Wiliame, who scored six tries in 18 appearances for the Sea Eagles in 2016, said: "I am really excited to be joining the Catalans Dragons.

"I have enjoyed my time at Manly but look forward to playing alongside Greg Bird and helping the Dragons chase a premiership."

Wiliame was in the Fiji team that lost 24-22 to Papua New Guinea in Sydney in May.
