Catalans too strong for Hull KR

Todd Carney's Catalans Dragons have scored a comfortable win over Hull KR in the Super League.

A - Todd Carney was among the tryscorers as Catalans bounced back from their Magic Weekend loss with a 34-16 win over Hull KR in the Super League.

The Dragons ran in six tries in Perpignan on Saturday (Sunday AEST) with fullback Tony Gigot crossing for a double to help Catalans consolidate third place after responding to last week's 25-24 defeat to Wakefield.

Early tries from winger Jodie Broughton and five-eighth Carney, who stepped his way over the line, set up the win for the Dragons.

Catalans coach Laurent Frayssinous hailed his players' resilience after putting the Wildcats game behind them.

"It was hard to swallow, but I've got to give credit to the players who responded very well and showed the right attitude today to win the two points," Frayssinous said.

In the earlier match, Hull FC re-established a two-point lead on the Super League table, but needed a first try of the season from substitute Danny Washbrook three minutes from the end to clinch a thrilling 32-24 victory over St Helens.

Saints overcame a disastrous start in which they lost influential halfback Luke Walsh with a leg injury and fell 12-0 behind to get themselves into a winning position.
