Cate Campbell says she is pleased to finish ahead of her sister at the Perth Aquatic Super Series, despite Bronte's hip injury.

Cate Campbell appears to have regained the ascendancy over her sister Bronte, claiming the 100m freestyle at the Perth Aquatic Super Series.

Cate, 23, recorded a time of 53.02sec to tip in 0.28sec ahead of her sibling.

The result is a reverse of the 2015 world championship finish, when Bronte slipped out of her older sister's shadows to claim the gold medal in Kazan.

Cate, who was recovering from a shoulder injury suffered at the end of 2014, finished third.

Saturday night's win followed her victory on Friday in the 50m freestyle.

Cate was happy with her performance, but said she was just impressed with her sister's time.

"I'm liking this order a lot better than the order last year (at the world championships), that's for damn sure," Cate said.

"It's the first meet (this year) for Bronte and myself and I feel a bit sorry for Bronte because she has been battling a hip injury.

"So for her to come out and swim that quickly is very, very impressive."

Meanwhile, Cameron McEvoy has again shown he is on track for an attack on the Rio Olympic Games, recording a second personal best time in consecutive nights.

He claimed the 50m freestyle with a time of 21.73sec, 0.21sec quicker than his previous best.

The result followed McEvoy's fastest ever swim in the 100m freestyle on Friday night.

Jessica Ashwood also seems on track for the National Trials in Adelaide in April, dominating in the women's 400m freestyle with a time of 4.05.76min, just 2.42sec outside of her own Australian record.
