Geelong's tall stocks have taken another big hit with Mark Blicavs ruled out of Thursday night's AFL clash with West Coast due to soreness.

Blicavs joins the suspended Tom Hawkins on the sidelines, with the Cats recalling former Saints ruckman Rhys Stanley and fit-again defender Jed Bews.

West Coast premiership defender Sam Butler and forward Josh Hill have paid the price for the club's three-match losing run, with the duo axed to make way for Tom Barrass and Tom Cole.

Eagles coach Adam Simpson surprisingly kept Eric Mackenzie in the side despite recalling Barrass.
