Geelong skipper Joel Selwood says it's time for the Cats to move past the hurt of their preliminary final thumping by Sydney.

The Cats' 2016 premiership aspirations were crushed by a dominant Swans side in the 37-point defeat that Selwood said hit the club hard.

Geelong were among the busiest clubs during trade period and have also lost Corey Enright and Jimmy Bartel to retirement but Selwood expects the Cats to be a premiership contender once again in 2017.
