Richmond have ruled out Steven Motlop as part of any potential AFL trade with Geelong for star Tigers utility Brett Deledio.
The two clubs confirmed on Monday's opening day of trade talks that Deledio wants to leave Punt Rd for Geelong.
He is contracted until the end of next season and Richmond will drive a hard bargain.
There was also speculation that the Tigers might be keen on Motlop, but their list manager Dan Richardson ruled that out.
"Steve is probably not a player we're interested in," Richardson said.
He reiterated that the rebuilding Tigers do not want to lose good players.
"And Brett is certainly a good player," he said.
"But Geelong have expressed their interest and we had some discussions today - (they) didn't progress too far.
"First day - there's a long way to go.
"Brett has expressed his interest in Geelong as well, but at this stage we wouldn't be letting Brett go for nothing, that's for sure."
Richardson said the interest from Geelong in Deledio was reasonably strong.
"Brett would consider his options, but he certainly understands he's a contracted and required player and more than likely, still plays for us next year," he said.
Also on Monday, Richardson said discussions with Gold Coast were progressing well over a trade for Suns midfielder Dion Prestia.
"We're fairly confident we'll be able to get that done," he said.
Richardson scoffed at speculation that key forward Jack Riewoldt might be a trade option, but confirmed they are interested in Sydney ruckman Toby Nankervis.
And Richardson confirmed that their meeting last week with Port Adelaide midfielder Hamish Hartlett went no further than initial discussions.
He expects Hartlett to stay with the Power.
