Cavs win, Spurs, Jazz lose in NBA

There were mixed results for the Australians in the return to action after the All-Star break.

Matthew Dellavedova scored a win, but the news was not so good for fellow Australians Patty Mills and Joe Ingles in their first games after the NBA All-Star break.

Dellavedova, after missing five games for the Cleveland Cavaliers with a hamstring strain, scored seven points in a 106-95 home victory over the Chicago Bulls on Thursday.

Cavs' leader LeBron James fell just short of a triple-double with 25 points, nine rebounds and nine assists.

Mills' San Antonio Spurs had a lacklustre outing against Western Conference rivals the Los Angeles Clippers, going down 105-86.

Mills had nine points while Clippers' veteran point guard Chris Paul had 28 points.

The Washington Wizards were too strong on their home court for Ingles' Utah Jazz, winning 103-89.

Ingles had just two points and two rebounds.

Dellavedova, Mills, Ingles and Australia's other NBA players, Andrew Bogut, Aron Baynes, Cameron Bairstow and injured Dante Exum, came together over the All-Star break for a five-day bonding vacation in San Diego.

Mills said the players wanted to build chemistry ahead of the Rio Olympics.

"It was all about friendship stuff and off the court stuff and that really goes a long way," Mills told AAP.
