Former Kiwis captain Nathan Cayless will coach the Junior Kiwis in their Test against Australia in May.

Cayless, who captained New Zealand to their rugby league World Cup win in 2008, says he's looking forward to passing his knowledge on to the young talent coming through.

"I'm privileged to be able to come back and work with New Zealand Rugby League after coming through the system as a player," he said.

"With two months until our first Test I'm excited to get to know the boys, and I can't wait to get into some hard work and preparation."

The Junior Kiwis Test is part of a triple-header in Canberra on May 5, with the Jillaroos meeting the Kiwi Ferns in a women's rugby league match and the Kiwis facing the Kangaroos.
