Moments before allegedly throwing the punch that led to 18-year-old Daniel Christie's death, Shaun McNeil is filmed slugging another young man and kicking him when he is down.

CCTV footage shown in the NSW Supreme Court on Tuesday depicts the moments leading up to Mr Christie's assault on New Year's Eve 2013.

McNeil, who has pleaded not guilty to Mr Christie's murder, was walking with his girlfriend through Kings Cross, at one point shaking hands with a security guard, before he crossed a group of teenagers.

CCTV footage from a hotel on Darlinghurst Rd captures McNeil allegedly punching a teenager in a red hoodie, prompting him to fall on the road.

McNeil is then allegedly seen kicking the teen on the road before extending a hand to help him stand up.

The trial has previously heard the teen was part of a group that offered to sell McNeil drugs and made comments about his girlfriend's appearance.

Moments later, McNeil allegedly punches Mr Christie, who was walking through the nightclub district with his brother, Peter.

CCTV footage, enhanced by a forensic video analyst, depicts a figure falling back on to the road, prompting a group of bystanders to run to his aid.

The crown alleges Mr Christie came across McNeil's earlier confrontation and said to McNeil something like "what are you hitting a kid for?"

McNeil is accused of punching Mr Christie once, causing his head to hit the pavement, eventually leading to his death.

McNeil has pleaded not guilty to murder, but guilty to manslaughter.

The trial continues.
