Australia's batsmen have made up for lost time and peeled off their most amount of centuries in a Test match for more than three years.
Not since the 2015 Boxing Day Test against the West Indies have four Australians scored hundreds in the same match.
But with Usman Khawaja scoring his eighth century during the second innings, he became the fourth Australian to reach three figures in the second Test against Sri Lanka.
It was only the ninth time four or more Australians have managed a century in the same match.
Khawaja joined Joe Burns, Travis Head and Kurtis Patterson, who all brought up tons in the first innings of the match at Canberra's Manuka Oval.
It was a startling reversal of fortunes for Australia after entering the last Test of the summer with no batsman having scored a century since Khawaja's 141 against Pakistan in October.
Khawaja and Burns were there the last time Australia achieved the feat at the MCG, with Steve Smith and Adam Voges the other century makers against the West Indies.
The 32-year-old said he was relieved he could deliver in his last Test innings before the Ashes.
"It's a hundred for Australia so it meant a lot," Khawaja told reporters on Sunday.
"It wasn't fun getting a duck first innings and feeling like you let your team down a little bit at the start because we knew it was going to be hard."
Khawaja's unbeaten 101 ensured he completes the Sri Lankan series with an average of 56, along with a total of 310 runs for the Test summer.
