Victoria's power supply could be affected if workers at a Latrobe Valley power plant take strike action.

The CFMEU, which represents a number of workers at the Loy Yang plant, lodged an application with the Fair Work Commission on Monday to take protected action, which would include rolling strikes.

AGL Energy Ltd says on Tuesday is disappointed that unions have moved to take action, despite rejecting in December a four-year enterprise bargaining agreement, including a 21.5 per cent pay rise.
