Greens Leader Richard Di Natale believes the High Court challenge to laws changing the way Australians vote for senators will fail.

Family First senator Bob Day and Liberal Democrats senator David Leyonhjelm, who face being booted out at a possible double-dissolution election this year under the new rules passed last week, are mounting the court action.

"It's their right to do that, I suspect it will fail," Senator Di Natale, who supported the changes, told Sky News on Sunday.
