Chambers expecting Hayne to bounce back

Queensland's Will Chambers is bracing himself ahead of Wednesday night's State of Origin decider after witnessing Jarryd Hayne's reaction to his quiet game two.

A review of State of Origin II should have filled Queensland centre Will Chambers full of confidence after completely shutting down Jarryd Hayne in the Maroons' stirring 18-16 win.

But Chambers admits he is bracing himself ahead of Wednesday night's series decider at Suncorp Stadium after watching highlights of another game - Hayne's one-man demolition of Wests Tigers two weeks ago.

Chambers liked what he saw during the Origin II video session at Queensland's Gold Coast camp this week after winning another round in his superstar duel with Hayne in Sydney.

Hayne was restricted to just 48m and missed an equal team-high five tackles but did nab a first-half try before Chambers sparked yet another Maroons comeback, running 140m and setting up a much-needed try.

It followed his unanimous points decision over Hayne in Gold Coast's NRL round 10 win over Chambers' Melbourne.

However, nothing could ease Chambers' concerns after witnessing Hayne's reaction to his subdued Origin II display.

Two days after the Blues' loss, Hayne tore the Tigers apart in round 10 by scoring two tries, setting up another and running 169m to inspire a Gold Coast win.

Asked if he expected a big game three from Hayne, Chambers said: "That's a crazy question.

"Do you think he's going to lie down? That's mad.

"He's going to come fired up and he's going to be ready to play Origin."

Hayne picked up where he left off from the Tigers by running 180m and setting up two tries in the Titans' last-round win over St George Illawarra.

Chambers said the stage was set for Hayne to step up again when Queensland's dynasty goes on the line on Wednesday night.

"You saw two days later when he backed up against the Tigers he went out and scored two tries," Chambers said.

"One bad game doesn't mean much. He'll come Wednesday night and we know what to expect.

"We saw what he did in game one at Suncorp and it's going to be a big occasion and we know that he'll be up for the challenge."

Queensland moved Chambers to his preferred position of right centre for game two after Hayne had a field day against Justin O'Neill in NSW's record 28-4 victory in the Origin opener at Suncorp Stadium.

The Storm centre had immediate success, shutting down the former NFL star by limiting his time with the ball.

"It's still going to be a tough challenge," Chambers said.

"But it's obviously really good to play (against guys like him). He's a special talent."
