Days of mass civil unrest saw the army issue an ultimatum to President Mohammed Morsi to strike a deal with opponents who are calling for his removal, or risk being deposed.

President Morsi, who hails from the Muslim Brotherhood, has rejected the ultimatum, saying he was elected democratically and should be allowed to serve out his term in office.

Gehad El-Haddad is a spokesman for the Muslim Brotherhood.

Speaking from Cairo, he told Santilla Chingaipe about the party's views on the latest developments in Egypt.
