Queensland captain Daly Cherry-Evans has finally come clean about his fitness before the State of Origin decider in Sydney, after admitting to "little white lies" in the past.
And NSW won't like what he has to say.
The Maroons halfback insists he has finally overcome ankle and shoulder niggles and is now ready to unleash his running game in Wednesday's decisive game three.
But Cherry-Evans has rejected Queensland great Darren Lockyer's theory that the encounter will define his career.
The playmaker was finally brutally honest on Monday, revealing he had been deceitful to media after nursing injuries in Queensland's 18-14 game one win and their 38-6 Origin II thrashing to NSW.
Cherry-Evans admitted his ankle was not right in the opener - playing just five weeks after surgery - and had been hampered by a major shoulder issue in the Perth rout.
However, he vowed to show his true colours in the decider.
"It is the best that I have felt. I have probably thrown a few little white lies out there around my fitness over the last couple of months," Cherry-Evans said.
"But that is a part of footy.
"The fact that I have taken part in every training session this week is something that I haven't done since coming back from injury, so I will take a lot of confidence out of my preparation this week and the way I am moving around the field.
"It is exciting. For once I can honestly say I am feeling good, and feeling great going into a game of footy."
Cherry-Evans hid his injury well in game one to help inspire a series opening win but did appear restricted in Origin II, albeit behind a well beaten Maroons pack.
But now the Queensland No.7 insisted he was primed to finally show his hand and take on the Blues' line.
"My job, first and foremost, is to steer this team around. I am the halfback and I need to be communicating," he said.
"Off the back of that if we can generate those quick play-the-balls I feel as though I am playing my best when I am attacking the defensive line."
The stage is set for Cherry-Evans to become the first player to win his maiden series as Origin captain since Queensland's Cameron Smith in 2008.
But Cherry-Evans dismissed ex-skipper Lockyer's claim this week that game three would define the Manly star's career.
"It is a big game, no doubt about it," he said.
"There has been a bit of talk about potentially this game defining me.
"If the result goes the way I think it will, that's great, but I have never been a player to have one game define me.
"I will play too much football beyond this game for it to define me as a player."
