Cherry-Evans officially named Qld captain

Daly Cherry-Evans has officially been unveiled as Queensland's new State of Origin captain ahead of next week's series opener in Brisbane.

Daly Cherry-Evans has capped a remarkable tale of redemption after being officially unveiled as Queensland's new State of Origin captain.

The polarising playmaker, who was once booed by Suncorp Stadium crowds, has become Queensland's 15th skipper.

Cherry-Evans - who replaces the retired Greg Inglis and Billy Slater at the Maroons helm - has also confirmed he is a certain starter for the June 5 opener in Brisbane despite undergoing ankle surgery just five weeks ago.
