Chiefs and Crusaders returning to Suva

Fiji will host the Chiefs and Crusaders for a second successive Super Rugby season, citing the success of this year's venture.

The Chiefs will play the Crusaders in Fiji for a second-straight Super Rugby season.

The round 13 match on May 19 will feature the same teams that played this year's historic fixture when Suva hosted the first Super Rugby game in the Pacific Islands.

The Chiefs won what was a 'home' game 23-13 in wet conditions.

Chief executive Andrew Flexman says a repeat was prompted by the popularity with Fijian locals as well as travelling supporters.

"We know many of our Chiefs fans thoroughly enjoyed the experience of travelling to the island destination," he said.

"It is important that we do our bit to promote the standing of the sport in that country."

The Chiefs announced seven of their eight other home games will be in Hamilton, with New Plymouth hosting their May 6 fixture against the Queensland Reds.

A pre-season game against South Africa's Bulls in Brisbane on February 8 falls three days before the city hosts the inaugural Brisbane Global Tens tournament.
